Scope: Concept Design, Architecture, Interior Design, FF&E
This hotel has undergone a major refurbishment. Hotel rooms received new FF&E packages. The lobby, bar and restaurant areas have been transformed with a stylish new fit-out.

An eight storey high tent is something to draw attention when driving through a country town. That is exactly why our client Peter McIntyre, used this bold design for his hotel when he built it. It still attracts attention today when driving through central Wagga Wagga.

The problem was that once inside, the excitement stopped. Guests and visitors were greeted by a mess of overgrown pot plants, green canvas awnings, cane furniture, unused swimming pool and tired old rooms.

The Solution was a bold modern design to match the spirit of the tall pavilion structure. Our client also wanted to incorporate a new café with outdoor dining. Integration of the new outdoor café was achieved through reconfiguration of the façade.

The Challenges were various, “how to combine reception, café, bar and restaurant so one staff member could watch all four “- Solution: Pivot functions around one point with view lines to all parts maintained. “What to do with the pool” – Solution: turn it into a wine cellar with a new floor for the café above. Challenge: “How to provide outdoor dining when the entire site was covered” – Solution: create a verandah capsule inside the Pavilion that opens up to the street.

Challenge: “How to make this all happen without closing the Hotel” – Solution: designs were documented to maximize off site prefabrication and close communication with the builder during construction to ensure there were no information delays.
